Twins

Jeff and Stu Parish aka the Soul Twins were guest selectors on Scott Taylor's Hidden Gems show this week. With tracks by Willie Hutch, Minnie Riperton, The Isley Brothers and more, this is a great addition to any MP3 player. Listen out for a nice doo wop remix of a Hall & Oates classic too!

Air Adam Podcast 50th Episode

Air Adam

The end of last month saw another milestone for the "Air Adam Podcast" as the 50th episode was rolled out. Over four years worth of expertly crafted material, top notch selections and forgotten or unknown diamonds. It's also worth adding that this podcast series has been released on schedule every month since its inception in June 2009. Congratulations Adam!

Download the podcast and read the show notes here, which have a nice little shout out for this blog. Thanks!  You can also find the fantastic back catalogue on the site.

Homeboy Sandman - All That I Hold Dear (Audio)

Homeboy

Gifted lyricist and all round good guy, Homeboy Sandman, releases his new project "All That I Hold Dear" today. Like with his previous EP, "Kool Herc: Fertile Crescent" produced solely by El RTNC, again he enlists the help of one producer. This time M. Slago is on the boards.

To celebrate the release of the 7 track album, he has dropped a single not featured on there. The track named "All That I Hold Dear OUT NOW" can be streamed below and the digital version of the album can be copped at Stone's Throw Records. Physical copies of the album ship in September.

Kiss

Next up on The Combat Jack Show it's the turn of the Yonkers emcee, Jadakiss. As one third of The LOX, Kiss has a storied past in the hip hop game and has remained relevant since his days under the wing of Biggie to now collaborating with the new generation.

Hear what he had to say to the crew. As always, additional parts will be added.

*Parts 2 & 3 now added*

Happy Birthday Adam Yauch, MCA Day: A Tribute To The Beastie Boy Legend

Revolt TV put together a short video for this past May's "MCA Day" in memory of Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys. By all accounts, it was a full house for a large portion of the day with many people coming to attend from far and wide.

Today would have been his 49th birthday.

The Regiment

A couple of weeks ago, Detroit natives The Regiment released a free EP named "Off The Record". The offering is entirely produced by Australia's Alter Ego and definitely gives off a positive vibe, which is one of the group's main objectives. Check their blog and mission statement here.

The EP can be streamed or downloaded below and you can see the video for "One Of A Kind" lifted from the project after the Bandcamp player.

Robin Thicke, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots - Blurred Lines (Kindergarten Instruments Edition)(Video)

Fallon

Recently as a guest on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon", Robin Thicke performed "Blurred Lines". This was a little different however. With help from The Roots and Jimmy Fallon himself, they recreated the worldwide smash using instruments you'd find in a kindergarten classroom. It's surprisingly good!

Watch the kindergarten edition below, followed by Robin Thicke's performance on the actual NBC show.

Jonwayne - Cassette 3: The Marion Morrison Mixtape (Download)

Jonwayne

Stone's Throw artist Jonwayne releases the third part of his Cassette series with the "Marion Morrison Mixtape". The first two parts of the trilogy were only available on cassette (naturally) but this time around Stone's Throw have made it a download.

The reason behind the name of  the mixtape is new information for me and quite interesting. Spotted this at 2DopeBoyz -

"Jonwayne’s real name is Jon Wayne. Marion Morrison is the real name of the Hollywood cowboy guy John Wayne, who took his screen name from Jonwayne’s great-great-great-great-great uncle. What comes around goes around."
