The Making Of Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day" (Video)

Cube

Complex continue their fantastic "Magnum Opus" series with the making of Ice Cube's classic cut "Today Was A Good Day". The track is probably one of the most well known songs from any catalogue in Hip-Hop, especially when you consider the time it was released and who it was created by. If you asked anyone, particularly a non Hip-Hop fan, to name an Ice Cube song, "Today Was A Good Day" is a strong contender for their answer.

This episode of "Magnum Opus" explores the inspiration for the song and the crossover appeal it garnered, with quotes from Ice Cube himself as well as others.

Watch the episode below followed by the full video beneath.

Tupac

Pac

Time flies....when you're getting old. The fact that 17 years have passed so quickly is pretty alarming. Nearly two decades. I didn't just wake up today with this realisation. Today actually marks the 17th year since the passing of arguably one of the most recognisable and debated icons. Love him or hate him, he's still talked about to this day.

Tupac Shakur is here to stay.

Aaliyah

Aaliyah

Anniversaries, whether for good or bad reasons, are instances when people can reflect or celebrate moments and events in their lives. Unfortunately they can often be a reminder of how fast time goes by.

It's been twelve years today since the passing of Aaliyah and it doesn't feel that long ago. Perhaps it's because her music is still heard today (in one form or another). Remembering someone you didn't know personally can seem a little bizarre but artists and musicians are tied to a lot of memories and they can be held in a higher regard as a result.

Time goes by, but she is timeless.
