February. Dilla month. The month that James Dewitt Yancey was born and passed away. It's been ten years since music lost a pioneer, genius and friend. From his early work with his group Slum Village, his high profile hits with Janet Jackson and Q-Tip, through to his own "Donuts" album he created on his death bed, Jay Dee left a legacy that will be remembered.
Manchester will do their bit to remember him on February the 18th in The Whiskey Jar basement. Ten years after the original tribute night took place at Urbis in 2006, a number of DJs from that night will come back together to pay their respects. FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I decided to put a compilation of slow jams together. Featuring tracks from the likes of Keith Sweat, Silk, Mya, H-Town, Raphael Saadiq and many more. This is a collection of actual slow jams as opposed to a bunch of random R'n'B tracks. No shots. :)
Today marks the tenth anniversary of the passing of J Dilla.
Not much else can be said about the impact that he had on music, his family, friends and fans. A few years ago, as part of their Crate Diggers series, Fuse TV put together an episode looking at his personal collection of vinyl. In his absence, numerous close friends and collaborators talk about the man and his music.
Here we have the visuals to Washington Heights emcee Skematics' latest track, "4 Elements". The video features The Yardfather himself, Saigon, as well as one half of Blahzay Blahzay and frequent Sean Price collaborator, PF Cuttin, who produced the track.
The single is available on iTunes now but look for the upcoming EP from Skematics, "Somewhere In The Grey".
Danse of Brooklyn Stickup returns with a new video for his single "FUSMD". Accompanied by April Oneill on vocals, Danse delivers an homage to the underdog. Despite the no nonsense lyrics on the track, he shows a sense of hope and personal accomplishment with the guests in the visuals. #FUSMD
Watch the video below and pick up the single on iTunes now.
Back in Manchester once again, More Bounce and The Remedy Sessions present DJ Boogie Blind. The DJ for Pharoahe Monch, Lord Finesse and current member of The X-ecutioners will be playing live at The Live Room on December 11th. Definite party starter.
He'll be supported on the night by Mikey DON, DJ Omas and El Statiko. Tickets and information over on the Facebook event page.
Also, check Bloc2Bloc's footage from the last time he rocked Manchester below.
A couple of weeks ago, Your Old Droog dropped the video for "We Don't Know You". The incredibly chill produced DJ Skizz track appears on Droog's "The Nicest EP" which is available now. Check the animated video below.
Detroit legend Phat Kat drops the visual for his first single from his album "Re-Dedication To The Suckers". The video for "Rededication" is a brif reminder of what you've been missing since the last album a few years back. Check it below.
Triple Darkness drop a new video from their latest album "Darker Than Black" with the single "A Cup Of Spiders". With production from Ringz Ov Saturn and cuts from Evil Ed, we hear verses from Crown Nectar, Cyrus Malachi, Ray Vendetta and Black Prophet.
The album is available in both digital and physical formats via Bandcamp and Suspect Packages. Vinyl will also be available soon.
AZ returns with the new single and video "Back To Myself". A laid back track on an unorthodox beat for AZ but hopefully this means we're closer to the release of his elusive sequel "Doe Or Die 2". That remains to be seen but this single is available on iTunes now.
