The Catch Up: Ugly Heroes / Pyramid Vritra / Your Old Droog (Video)

Pyramid

Just in case you missed them, here are a few videos that caught my attention over the last couple of weeks and failed to get put up on here.

First up is Stones Throw emcee/producer Pyramid Vritra with the track "224" featuring Huey Bliss. This is taken from his "Palace" EP which is only £2.49 on iTunes. Worth a little of your money.

Ugly Heroes

Next, Ugly Heroes dropped another video from their self titled EP which was released a week back. "Michael, Scottie & Horace" sees Verbal Kent and Red Pill doing what they do best over Apollo Brown's banging production with an M.O.P. sample on the chorus for good measure.

Your Old Droog

And finally, putting all doubts to rest, we actually SEE Your Old Droog as he features on the first episode of "Just Rhymin With Skizz". A few people may be disappointed that it isn't Nas, especially if they bought a ticket for his debut performance at Webster Hall in NY next week. I think he's a promising artist and being compared to Nasir Jones can only be a good thing.

Statik Selektah - Carry On feat. Joey Bada$$ and Freddie Gibbs (Video)

Carry On

Statik Selektah lets go of the video for his single "Carry On" featuring Joey Bada$$ and Freddie Gibbs. The track features on the new album "What Goes Around" which I expect will be another excellent addition to Statik's catalogue.

Incidentally, both Joey and Freddie will be appearing separately in Manchester over the coming months. Check SeeTickets for more info.

Magnum Opus: The Making of Mike Jones' Still Tippin' with Slim Thug & Paul Wall (Video)

Mike Jones

Almost a decade after the initial release, Complex take a look at the making of the seminal Texan record "Still Tippin'" by Mike Jones, Slim Thug and Paul Wall.

We hear from all involved in the record including the producer Silah who made the classic beat, the co-founder of Swishahouse Records Michael "5000" Watts as well as other Houston representatives.

I wasn't aware that there was an original version of this without Mike Jones on it or the subsequent rift it left between Paul Wall and Chamillionaire. A great watch.

Check the doc below and also the video for the song by Dr. Teeth after that.

As with anything put out by Action Bronson, I thought it mandatory to add his new video for "Easy Rider". Premiered earlier today via Noisey, this serves as the first single from Bam Bam's upcoming album "Mr. Wonderful" due in the last quarter.

Joey Bada$$ drops off the first video from his upcoming debut album "B4DA$$" with the single "Big Dusty". Fellow Pro Era crew Kirk Knight supplies production. The fact this kid continues to deliver heat is undeniable. That goes for the rest of Pro Era too.

Cormega - Industry (Video), This Is 50 Interview, Sway Interview & Industry (Juice Crew Remix)(Audio)

Cormega

After hearing about the upcoming album from Cormega at his show in Manchester in late 2012, it was definitely the news everyone that was there wanted to hear. The fact it was to be produced entirely by his co-headliner that night, Large Professor, was just the icing on the cake.

Last week "Mega Philosophy" finally arrived and it doesn't disappoint.

Mega has been busy promoting the album with appearances on various radio shows and dropped a video for the first single "Industry". Today, Respect premiered a Juice Crew remix featuring verses from Masta Ace, Craig G and Kool G Rap!

Below I've included the video for "Industry", video interviews with Sway Calloway and Young Jack Thriller for ThisIs50 and the audio for the "Industry (Juice Crew Remix)". Enjoy and if you haven't already got the album, you know what to do. It's on iTunes for a start.

Bronsolino actually has roots here in Manchester. He mentions it here but I remember him talking about it the first time I saw him live a few years ago.

Magnum Opus: The Making Of Puff Daddy's Can't Nobody Hold Me Down (Video)

PuffyMase

Love him or hate him, no one can deny that Puff Daddy has more than a few hit records under his belt. The majority of these came from his production with the likes of Mary J Blige, Biggie Smalls and 112 to name a few artists. These are tracks that are still heard to this day.

Complex turn to his breakout hit as an artist with his 1997 single "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" featuring Mase and go behind the making of this important record in Puffy's career. As well as talking to Puffy, Complex also get comments from Mase, Nasheim Myrick (co-producer) and Dante Ross. They discuss the creation, the impact of the record and the questions that arose from using an already popularised sample.

Watch the episode of "Magnum Opus" below. The full video for "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" featuring Mase is also included beneath.
